Melanie Doggett Named Gatorade National Player of the Year

Melanie Doggett’s freshman season has officially made history.

The Landmark Christian School (Ga.) standout was named the 2025–26 Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Player of the Year on Thursday, becoming the first freshman ever to receive the national award.

Doggett earned the honor after an outstanding season that put her among the nation’s top high school athletes. Beyond her success on the track, she was also recognized for maintaining a 4.0 weighted GPA and making an impact in her community through volunteer work and leadership.

She was surprised with the award at Landmark Christian School in front of her teammates, family, and friends before taking part in a Gatorade celebration that included a photoshoot and media interviews.

As the National Player of the Year, Doggett will also receive support from the Gatorade Player of the Year program, including access to the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) and future opportunities with the brand.

With another historic achievement added to her résumé, Doggett continues to establish herself as one of the brightest young stars in high school track and field.
